Just curious, how and when did you come across this idea? Do you use Twitter?

@Jeffro2pt0: I never heard about this site before. The first WpVote links has been posted before the first link on pressitforme, though.
Anyways, there’s already hundreds of social bookmarking sites, so…Users will choose the one they like the most, or use both. To answer your question, I do not use twitter.

JBJ - Love the site and the idea. I immediately grabbed your RSS feed and added to my reader.

I’ve only just read a couple articles, but here’s some early feedback. It’s a bit irritating to get a post from the feed and click it, only to get basically the same headline on your WP Vote site, which I have to click AGAIN to pop over to the original article. That’s three clickthroughs, 2 of which are really adding no value.

I’m sure you’re wanting to generate traffic for everyone, including yourself, but if that is the model I probably won’t stay subscribed for long.

For me, I’d like to see either a straight clickthrough to the original artice (maybe you could brand wp-vote in the feed?), or add some value to the wp-vote site when I hit it.

Otherwise, I’m afraid people will just figure out what new sites they like and drop the wp-vote feed in favor of those new sites.

Sorry for the “negative” feedback, just wanted to share my early impressions. Great idea.

Dave - Don’t be sorry. Thanks for your impression, it’s always good to have feedback from people who help you to improve the site.
Though, when you grab digg.com feed, for exemple, and click on an item, you’re redirected to the digg.com page of the article, and must click another time to go to the original article source, so I guess this is the “standard” way.
I will think about your feeback, and see what can I do.
If anyone else have an advice about this, don’t hesitate to tell me, I’ll be glad to hear it!

I remember Jeff posted this idea on Twitter a couple days ago. I have to say WPVote.com has the better domain name and design so far. Interesting how both of this sites (pressitfor.me and wpvote) are created at almost exactly the same time?

There’s another “WP digg-like”: http://votepress.com. Though, it is full of spam and seems to never have been updated.

I’m not surprised that 2 (or even more) people had the same idea: As I said in the article, social bookmarking sites tends to be more and more specific due to the fact that it became very hard to hit the frontpage of a popular site as such as digg.com.

@ JBJ - I’m loving this new site. The setup is great and very user friendly.

For those wondering about timelines, Jean actually wrote the above post last Friday (or maybe Saturday) and he had shown me the site several days earlier and mentioned he would be writing a post about it. He has definitely been working very hard on this project for awhile now. The domain WHOIS shows “Record created: 2008-07-29 00:19:58″ so it looks like the domain is a little over two weeks old.

And like Jean said, it is not an original idea as far as the whole Digg concept, he is just making a more focused version for the WordPress community. I think the site looks great!

Ah, it seems you’re right. WPVote is a couple weeks old.

On another note, is WPVote experiencing some technical difficulties right now?

@ jbj - Hey this is pretty cool. The only thing I’d like to add is I think the site is not quickly identifiable to people who don’t know about the site.

All they see is “WpVote.” What’s that mean? Experienced bloggers might know what the Wp stands for, but there’s a lot of bloggers out there who still don’t know how browser tabs work.

A tagline might be helpful as well as something added in your title tag.

Other than that, I think it’s pretty cool. Good job.

Well, may the best form of execution win I’m interested in finding out if the WordPress community actually comes around to one site or the other and actually participates.

I tried subscribing to WPVote’s RSS feed with Google Reader and each of the articles are linking to the localhost! D:

Brandon, we experienced a few problems 2 days ago but it is solved now. Try to clear your browser cache and suscribe again, I just tested it and it works fine for me.

Still i find localhost link in vote button.Needs a lot of work and test.

Pressitforme looks good and does not have many issues.
