A lot of times I run across some great posts talking about WordPress, but they don’t always warrant a featured post. Here are a few WordPress related posts I’ve recently enjoyed and hope you will also:
- One Mans Blog explains How to Increase the Number of Comments in the WordPress Editor. This can also easily be covered with a WordPress Greasemonkey Script.
- Michael of WPCandy gives you ideas on where to find WordPress help. In addition to Google search and blogs like this one, there are a lot of great sources out there for WordPress help. People often forget about the WordPress Codex, which I will often reference when writing my posts. There are also some great forums dedicated to WordPress (ours will be up by this weekend hopefully).
- Weblog Tools Collection has taken our post explaining how to separate trackbacks and comments and expanded on it in their post explaining how to manage trackbacks and pingbacks in your WordPress theme. While it isn’t quite as simple as our instructions, it will give you much more control over how they function and even provides a way to remove trackbacks and pingbacks completely from displaying on your WordPress blog.
WordPress has been a hot topic around the blogosphere, with all sorts of people doing a lot of great work. I try to make at least one post a month that highlights some of the great stuff others have done, so feel free to check these out if they sound interesting to you:
- Daily Blog Tips has posted 11 Tips For Choosing a WordPress Theme. This list has some good stuff to consider when you are WordPresss theme shopping.
- Lunarpages is having a WordPress theme design contest over on their website with some pretty good prizes. The catch? You have to upload the theme to their site.
In addition to the stuff you’ll find here at Hack WordPress, there are all sorts of things being discussed around the blogosphere about WordPress. Here are a few things I’ve collected that I hope people will find useful:
- Keith over at Techie Buzz is WordPress theme and plugin designer, and has a lot of knowledge about PHP. He has a couple useful posts explaining how to create SEO friendly URL’s using mod rewrite and PHP and how to get rid of errors after upgrading to WordPress 2.3.
- Web Designer Wall has listed some plugins they find useful. There are a few I haven’t covered here yet, so you may want to check it out.
- Aseem has published a great guest post at JohnTP.com explaining how to increase your WordPress blogs load time. Even the little things can go a long way towards improving your blogs load time.
